Contra Costa County Office of Education

On November 8, 2022, California voters approved Proposition 28: The Arts and Music in Schools (AMS) Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act. The measure required the state to establish a new, ongoing program supporting arts instruction in schools beginning in 2023–24.  CCCOE supports districts in strategic arts planning through regular Arts Convenings with district arts leaders.  For related resources, please follow the Prop 28 Arts and Music in Schools Funding link in the Quick Links section of the website.

We are excited to announce the start of our CCCOE Strategic Arts Plan! Tracy McManus, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) Coordinator, organized two-days of planning sessions led by an outside facilitator.  Peggy Burt, Mindful Strategies Consultant, is a co-author of the Strategic Arts Planning Guide 4th Edition used nationwide.  The sessions included 18 participants ranging from educators to local artists, VAPA Coordinators and Contra Costa County art organizations. This initiative aligns with our commitment to Creativity and Innovation and Educational Equity, ensuring diverse perspectives and promoting a thriving learning community in the arts!
