The Contra Costa County Office of Education offers eligible employees the opportunity to enroll themselves and eligible family members in medical, dental, vision, and additional voluntary insurance options.
Enrollment forms must be received within 30 days from regular date of hire. Employees that do not return their enrollment forms within the thirty day waiting period subsequently waive their benefits and must wait for a qualifying event or Open Enrollment (held each fall) to enroll.
KNOW YOUR BENEFITS
Employee benefits are summarized in their respective sections below. For more complete information please refer to the Employee Handbook.
The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) 2010 HR3590, or Affordable Care Act (ACA) for short, is the new health care reform law in America and is often called by its nickname Obamacare.
The Individual Mandate requires most Americans to have “minimum essential coverage” health insurance or pay a penalty when they file their federal income tax return. If you don't have health insurance through a job, Medicaid, the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or another source that provides coverage, the Health Insurance Marketplace can help you get covered. Please contact the Human Resources department to find out if you are eligible for an employer sponsored health plan or visit www.healthcare.gov or www.coveredca.com to learn more about purchasing a plan from the health exchange.
