The CCCOE hosts county-wide Staff Recruitment Fairs throughout the year and attends many local and state job fairs. Discover teaching positions in a variety of fields, including: All levels of K-12 education; Specialty; and Substitute teaching positions.
The annual county-wide Certificated Recruitment Fair is scheduled to be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 9:00am-11:30am. This fair will be held at Pleasant Hill Middle School, located at 1 Santa Barbara Road in Pleasant Hill. Substitute Teachers
Substitute teachers who choose to work for CCCOE will be assigned to Special Education, Court, Community, or Career Education (ROP) classes. The pay rate is $230 per day to start, with an increase to $240 when you have completed 20 assignments. Retired teachers receive $260 per day.
The CCCOE does not hire teachers for other school districts. Each district in Contra Costa County has its own Substitute List. The requirements and procedures will vary. You will need to contact them individually to apply.

Substitute Teacher Requirements
The minimum requirement for substitute teaching assignments is a Bachelor Degree. You may apply for an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Permit with proof of your Bachelor Degree. The substitute permit is valid for one year and will allow you to substitute teach on a day-to-day basis for up to 30 days in the same classroom or 20 days in a Special Education classroom.
