Staff Resources
According to The School Based Mental Health Alliance in order to have the greatest positive impact, school-based mental health services should be fully blended into the framework of the school and should follow a few best practices.
School-Based Mental Health Services should:
- build from and complement a positive school climate.
- be universally available for all students, especially prevention and early intervention services.
- come from mental health providers who serve as a resource to teachers and other school staff.
- be provided to school districts in partnership with county and community agencies.
- be organized into a three tier system: universal, targeted, and intensive.
California Student Mental Health Implementation Guide
This guide is intended to support local education agencies (LEAs) and county behavioral departments (BHDs) as they seek to partner to deliver comprehensive, high-quality school mental health services. The goal of this resource is to create a library of helpful resources and organize tools around critical topics and challenges.
