Contra Costa County Office of Education

HETAC
The California HETAC is funded by the California Department of Education (CDE) to provide support and technical assistance to county offices of education, local education agencies, and other interested stakeholders to ensure educational access and success for children and youth experiencing homelessness. The HETAC is operated jointly by the Contra Costa, Los Angeles, and San Diego County Offices of Education.

Asycnchronous Professional Development Training Courses
  • Course 1: Best Practices for County Office of Education McKinney-Vento Programs:

    The first of three courses includes a three module training that will provide professional development for County Office of Education McKinney-Vento homeless liaisons on their roles and best practices.

  • Course 2: Laws and Best Practices for LEA Liaisons

    The second of three courses includes a twelve module training that will provide professional development for newly-designated LEA McKinney-Vento homeless liaisons on the essential laws and best practices for their role. Each module concludes with a short quiz, and there is a final quiz at the conclusion of all twelve modules.

  • Course 3: McKinney-Vento 101 for Role Groups

    The third of three courses includes a three module training that will provide basic information about child and youth homelessness, the legal rights of students experiencing homelessness, and how administrators, staff, and faculty can identify and support students facing the challenges of unstable or inadequate housing.
