Contra Costa County Office of Education School Attendance Review Board (SARB) Hearings
The CCCOE will conduct district level SARB hearings for students referred from its county operated community school and its county authorized charter schools. As per AB 1643 & Ed Code 48321, County SARB members shall include, but not be limited to:
- Parent
- School district
- County probation
- County welfare department
- County superintendent of schools
- Law enforcement agencies
- Community-based youth service centers
- School guidance personnel
- Child welfare and attendance personnel
- County health care personnel
- County mental health
- County DA's office
- County public defender's office
The chairperson may determine the required members needed at a hearing, based on the needs of the pupil. The school district reps shall be nominated by the governing boards and appointed by the county superintendent, and all other persons shall be appointed by the county board of education. For the purpose of conducting hearings, a county SARB may meet as needed.
