Contra Costa County Office of Education

The California Community Schools Partnership Program (CCSPP) seeks to improve student and family outcomes by encouraging schools to develop partnerships with community organizations and local government to align community resources to improve student outcomes.

Community Schools include:
  • Integrated support services;
  • Family and community engagement;
  • Collaborative leadership and practices for educators and administrators;
  • Extended learning time and opportunities.
 
What is a Community School?

A Community School is any school serving pre-Kindergarten through high school students using a “whole-child” approach, with “an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement." As a school improvement strategy, community school initiatives enable the local educational agency (LEA) and school to work closely with educators, students, and families to understand and address the unique needs, assets, and aspirations of the school community. — California Community Schools Partnership Program Framework.

The CCSPP is supported by a system that includes the Lead Technical Assistance Center, known as the State Transformation Assistance Center (STAC), Regional Technical Assistance Centers (RTACs) and County Offices of Education.
